Flavio received his medical degree and completed his residency program in ophthalmology and a Ph.D. in regenerative medicine at the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome. He completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Glycobiology of the Ocular Surface at Schepens Eye Research Institute - Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts.
Before joining Dompé, Flavio researched the application of neurotrophins in ophthalmic and neurodegenerative diseases and was an adjunct professor of biology at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His professional experience includes positions at the IRCCS Fondazione G.B. Bietti and as a consultant ophthalmologist at the University Campus Biomedico di Roma and the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele Milano.
Since joining Dompé in 2014 as associate medical director for the company’s ophthalmology team, Flavio has risen to serve as Chief Medical Officer, leading the clinical development programs across each of the company’s therapeutic areas, including autoimmune and respiratory disease.
