The aim is to bring the world of Research closer to the public

Dompé at the “European Researchers’ Night” to bring the world of Research closer to the public

L'Aquila, 26 September 2014. “European Researchers’ Night”, which has been promoted by the European Commission since 2005 and every year involves thousands of scientists throughout the continent, is entirely dedicated to providing an informal and stimulating way of seeing the stars spangling the universe of scientific Research.

Ever since the first edition, Italy has traditionally been one of the countries organising the largest number of events aimed at bringing the world of Research closer to the people.

This year, the night also will also be celebrated in L’Aquila, the capital of Abruzzo and home to the pulsating heart of the Dompé Biopharmaceutical Group’s R&D activities. Founded in 1993, the Dompé site in L’Aquila now covers an area of more than 30,000 m2 and is widely recognised as an international centre of excellence. It is also one of the largest Research centres in central/southern Italy, with about 250 employees, more than 70 of whom are directly involved in R&D.

For this reason Dompé has enthusiastically chosen to take part in this special night promoted by the National Laboratories of Gran Sasso in collaboration with the University of L’Aquila, the Gran Sasso Science Institute and other scientific institutions in the region.

From the early afternoon until late in the evening, the centre of L’Aquila will host conferences, lessons, games and concerts designed to highlight the value of the people who make Research in L’Aquila an international excellence.

From 5 p.m., Dompé’s "Be Biotech" stand in Piazza Duomo will be proposing interactive workshops, scientific experiments and 3D animations for the young with the aim of illustrating its biotechnological research in an immediate and informal manner.

It is nothing less than a voyage that will bring visitors face-to-face with the healthcare sciences and biotechnologies making up Dompé’s world of R&D.
